Areas of Specialty
Havening Technique© Practitioner
There are various techniques that can be used with Havening touch depending on the needs of the client. Event Havening Technique is used to desensitize emotional responses to traumatic memories. The technique excites Delta waves in the brain to de-potentiate the cells that cause a reaction to the memory. The technique requires referring to the trauma to bring it to an active state, and then is only referenced to monitor the state of distress associated with the memory during the session. Clients retain the memory without this associated distress. Unlike some forms of EMDR, Havening does not require the retelling of the story as part of the desensitizing process.
Other Havening Techniques can also be utilized according to the needs of the client to address problems with stress, anxiety, outcome, and memories associated with low self-esteem or complicated grieving. Havening Technique also can address chronic and acute pain management.
Hypnosis
Most of us have images of a Hypnotist on stage who appears to put people into a hypnotic sleep and make them do things they otherwise wouldn’t do. Nothing could be further from the truth about what hypnosis is and how it can help you in your quest to resolve problems, including an inability to manage stress, diet, or a lack of motivation. Hypnosis is a state of trance that allows you to access information. You are in complete control, meaning no one can make you do anything you are not comfortable with and you are fully aware of your surroundings. The hypnotist has an ethical and professional obligation to assist you with hypnotic trance in a helpful and safe manner.
In this practice, hypnosis is used to help clients experience a deeper state of relaxation as a tool for stress management and resiliency. Special sessions are also offered to deal with diet, exercise, and weight loss. Poor eating habits are often a comfort response to deal with stress or anxiety so hypnosis can be quite an effective tool.
Somatic Experience and other Modalities of Care
Somatic Experience (by Dr. Peter Levine) employs various techniques to help you process how your body reacts to and holds the memories of trauma experiences and reactions. Along with exploring your situation and possible options with conversation, awareness of how your body internalizes your emotional response can raise awareness in ways that can become part of the healing process. Intentional Breath patterns and focused breath taking (HeartMath©) can significantly alter your reaction or response in a situation.
